This technique uses a two step process to create a template that is used in the burning process to create this sign.  Based on a turn of the century technique, the templates were often standardized letters were placed the wood and hot coals were mashed into the surface to scorch the wood in the template.  This produces a rustic look that works well with the ranch theme, or a western motif or in applications where a rugged and rustic theme is desired. The sign can be created any shape or size and can contain multiple layers as well.  The signs can also be colour washed for a more genuine look.
